What makes Shutters and More for Less! any different from other shutter companies?

A: Unlike other window treatment companies we have no physical location. No store = lower overhead expenses.
Because we have no store we have no employee hourly wages, pay no employee benefits, no rent or loan payments, no warehouse, no building insurance, no monthly electric, gas, or water bill, no property taxes, no building maintenance, no franchise fees, no showrooms, and no TV and radio advertising.

Do you offer free in-home estimates?

Yes, our experienced sales consultants bring our Shutters & More’s plantation shutter samples to you. We will measure your windows and provide you with a free estimate, including installation and applicable sales tax.

Are your shutters built in America?

We sell both American made and foreign made shutters.

Are your shutters 100% custom made?

Yes, they will be manufactured to beautifully fit your windows.

Are your shutters warranted?

Can I get custom color to match my trim or wall color?

Yes, our wood shutters can be matched to virtually any manufacturer’s paint color… or, if you supply us a painted sample to for us to match, even a custom color that has been custom mixed on site by you or your painter.

How do you price your shutters?

Our shutters are priced based on the size of your window opening. Measuring, manufacturing, and our products’ warranties are included in our price. All design options are included in our prices. Large commercial orders may qualify for a volume discount.

What are your payment terms?

We require a 50% down payment with the balance due at installation.

Do you use materials other than wood for your shutters?

Not in our 100% wood shutters.

However, in addition to our high quality wood shutters we also have Allview Polyresin and Broadleaf composite shutters. Truly well-made, long-lasting custom plantation shutters can only be constructed from high quality materials, whether that be of Wood, Polyresin, or other composite materials.

How long will it take to get my new shutters?

Generally, your shutters can be installed four to eight weeks from order placement. Production time varies based on how many other orders are in the system at the time your order is placed.

Specialty shutters such as arches, hexagons, and sunbursts may take slightly longer.

Please let your salesperson know if you need to meet a crucial date. We will do our best to accommodate you depending on the type of shutter you have selected.

Can I put wood shutters in my bathrooms?

Yes. All of our shutters are fine for bathrooms. Our wood shutters, just like your bathroom’s wood cabinets, will be fine as long as they are not subjected to direct water contact.

Do you use box frame to cover the window and its molding?

No, we do not use a one-size-fits-all type frame style to eliminate the need to precisely measure each window. We use the smallest frame components possible to ensure your shutter’s louvers have full range of motion and the shutter design whether they are to be mounted inside your window or on your window frame. At Shutters & More, we believe in taking a minimal approach with our designs. We only installing the amount of wood absolutely necessary to provide privacy and light control. When we must use a frame, it almost disappears around the edges of the shutter.

Are custom shutters expensive?

Our custom shutter products are typically less expensive than custom draperies and will last many decades longer. Custom plantation shutters do not wear out over time nor will they ever go out of style —they elevate your decor and add beauty and value to your home.

I have casement windows… can I still have shutters?

Yes, our wood shutters can be made to accommodate your casement windows.

Can I keep the tilt-in feature on my windows?

Yes, our shutters can be mounted on your existing window trim moulding to allow tilt-in windows to fully function.

Can I put plantation shutters on my French door or entrance door’s sidelights?

Yes, we do that all the time using a shadowbox shutter frame. We are able to install our custom made shutters on your French door and sidelights so all the windows in your room can have matching plantation shutters. We can even customize the shadowboxes to fit around lever door handles.

What’s the difference in shutters made from wood, polyresin, or composite materials?

Custom wood plantation shutters are like furniture. Hand crafted wood products the quality, character, value, and ambiance that will blend well with fine furnishings and window trims which are almost certainly wood.

Having said that, our custom made polyresin and composite shutters are maintenance free, carry a lifetime warranty, in a finish having the look of expensive painted wood, but they will never need painting.

How do I clean my shutters?

Our shutters have quality furnishes. You only have to vacuum them with a furniture attachment, a Swiffer-type duster or rarely, if at all, a just barely damp cotton cloth to clean your shutters. The use of paper towels and/or rough fabrics is not recommended.

Tip: Traditional shutters with visible front tilt rods louvers are easily cleanable from the backside of the panels, where front tilt rods are out of the way. 

Tip: Newer style shutters with hidden tilt rods in the back are easily cleaned from either the front or the back.

Must I have shutters on all my home’s front windows to make my window look uniform from the street side?

Not always. It has become more of personal preference. Your home’s style, your window sizes and placement, and your landscaping can influence your desire to have plantation shutters on all or only some of your windows.

Many people chose to do the front of their house completely in shutters. Some do their whole house all at once, and still others select plantation shutters for their front windows and elect to use our blinds and/or shades on the rest of their windows. Also, the beauty and light control provided by shutters may prioritize their use in some rooms more than others.

Our experienced sales consultants will be glad to provide pricing based on any number of scenarios.

Tip: Walk away from your home and view it from the street to look at its curb appeal. Do the windows on the front stand alone? Are your side yard windows also visible and influence how others will see your home?
